The Houhu Creek Ecological Park in Xinwu, managed by the Office of Coast and Resource Circulation Construction (OCRCC), has officially commenced full operations following a successful trial period that began on February 19 this year. he park has seen daily weekend crowds exceed 2,500 and a monthly average of 15,000 visitors, with over 300 guests participating in water activities. Its comprehensive planning has made it a “Instagrammable” destination, maintaining a rating of over 4.5 stars on Google.

Located along the coastal side of Houhu Creek, the Houhu Pearl Coast has been reconstructed by OCRCC using natural engineering methods, including a 940-meter rock revetment with a 1:6 gentle slope and a three-layer stone structure to enhance coastal protection. These improvements significantly reduce the risk of typhoon storm surges, flooding, and coastal erosion, while leveling the road and seawall. This allows visitors to seamlessly connect with panoramic views of the sea. During the trial period from February to April, the site attracted many visitors who have shared videos on social media, earning it the reputation of “the most beautiful sunset beach.” It is widely regarded as an ideal location for sunset viewing, ocean scenery, and listening to the waves.

OCRCC noted that Houhu Creek benefits from a unique natural setting, situated between coastal protection forests on both sides. Its calm and clean waters make it suitable for water activities such as canoeing, kayaking, and SUP. On-site services include equipment rental and professional instructors, making it ideal for family outings and couples. Visitors are welcome to relax and unwind by the seaside. The “Zhou Ri Café” located along the creek has officially begun operations, with business hours set from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, and closed on Mondays. On weekends and holidays, canoe experiences are available in six time slots—10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00—and can be booked via Line, on-site registration, or by calling 03-4862200 ext. 9, allowing visitors greater flexibility in planning their trips.

To celebrate, OCRCC is hosting a summer lucky draw from May 1 to August 30. Visitors spending NT$300 at Zhou Ri Café or joining water activities receive a raffle ticket. Biweekly draws offer outdoor sports gear, park-exclusive experience vouchers, and dining coupons. The grand prize includes two iPhone 17 Pro 256GB smartphones, which will be drawn on the last Sunday of August via a live broadcast on the park’s official Facebook page.

OCRCC noted that, Zhou Ri Café offers a NT$5 discount for personal containers to support sustainability. Reusable cups are also available on-site. Additionally, OCRCC is upgrading the creek’s right-bank walkway to create a safe, comfortable, age-friendly and continuous coastal recreational route.
