As cherry blossoms begin to bloom in February, popular scenic spots are filled with visitors eager to enjoy the sight. The Department of Environment Protection of the Taoyuan City Government (TYDEP) recommends three air quality purification zones for the public to visit: Zhongli Juguang Environmental Park, Dayuan Old Street Riverside Park, and Taoyuan Huiji Riverside Park. These locations offer a chance to enjoy the cherry blossoms and immerse oneself in the beauty of nature.
The TYDEP states that the city has 36 air quality purification zones, all of which provide beautiful environments. Among them, the Zhongli Juguang Environmental Park, known as “Cherry Blossom Park,” is home to over 200 Yaezakura. During cherry blossom season, the park sets up spotlights and colorful lights that illuminate the area at night, creating a romantic atmosphere for visitors to enjoy the cherry blossoms both day and night. The Dayuan Old Street Riverside Park is a popular spot not only for aircraft spotting but also for cherry blossoms and azaleas, with the Prunus serrulata trees in bloom. Visitors who miss the February cherry blossoms can still enjoy the late-blooming Fuji cherries at the Taoyuan Huiji Riverside Park in March. The TYDEP encourages the public to seize the opportunity to visit these parks and experience the vibrant life of blooming flowers.
The TYDEP notes that these three air quality purification zones are famous for their cherry blossoms and are popular photo spots for visitors. In addition to the 36 air quality purification zones, Taoyuan has 120 semi-purification zones, which together cover a total area of 265 hectares. The plants in these zones help absorb carbon dioxide, purify the air, and beautify the environment.
