Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng attended the inauguration ceremony of the “ingzhen Resource Circulation Park”this morning (Nov 30th) Mayor Chang emphasized that the park, co-developed by the city government and the Ministry of Environment, integrates resource storage and recycling functions. The facility provides Pingzhen's environmental sanitation team with a safer and more comfortable workspace. Mayor Chang expressed his hope that this model will serve as a blueprint for other administrative regions in Taiwan, advancing Taiwan's resource recycling capabilities and sustainability goals.
In his remarks, Mayor Chang noted that the working conditions for Pingzhen’s environmental sanitation team were previously suboptimal. The new park addresses this issue, offering modern facilities for staff members. He thanked the Ministry of Environment for its financial support and praised former Pingzhen Mayor Chen Wan-te and legislator Lu Yu-ling for securing a disused military base from the Armaments Bureau of the Ministry of Defense for the project. The site was provided to the city free of charge, facilitating its transformation into a state-of-the-art resource recycling facility. The combined investment, including matching funds from the city, totaled NT$230 million.
Mayor Chang highlighted the innovative and eco-friendly design of the Pingzhen Resource Circulation Park during its inauguration ceremony. Deputy Minister Yeh Chun-hung of the Ministry of Environment emphasized the transformation of the park from a disused military site into a state-of-the-art recycling facility, breathing new life and purpose into the space. The construction incorporated recycled materials for site improvements, achieving a 51% utilization rate, promoting resource reuse. The facility manages the storage and classification of 22 categories of recyclables within its indoor setup, further preventing environmental impact. Plans are underway to install solar panels with an installed capacity of 1.32 MW, sufficient to power the entire operation, positioning the park as a milestone in Taiwan's net-zero strategy. Deputy Minister Yeh expressed hope that the Pingzhen Resource Circulation Park would serve as a national model, reshaping public perceptions of recycling environments and leading the way in resource sustainability.
The Department of Environmental Protection of the Taoyuan City Government (TYDEP) emphasized that the facility offers 22 categories of recycling classification and serves as the hub for the city's "Taoyuan Green Recycling Stations." The facility adopts a warehousing management model to expand overall storage capacity. The completion of the Pingzhen Resource Recycling and Storage Center and the Pingzhen environmental sanitation team facilities signifies the city government's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. It also reflects its dedication to providing an optimal working environment for sanitation staff.
