The Taoyuan City Government received both the Country Award and the Asia-Pacific Regional Award in the Special Award for Smart Cities - Best in Digital Policies category at the IDC Future Enterprise Awards, hosted by the International Data Corporation (IDC). The awards recognized Taoyuan's innovative “City Environmental Governance: AI Environmental Pollution Recognition System”, with TYDEP Director General Chen Shih-wei representing the city at the award ceremonies on November 18 and 19 in Singapore. The achievement highlights Taoyuan’s success in smart governance and sustainability, garnering international acclaim. Taiwan's Representative to Singapore, Ambassador Tung Chen-yuan, personally attended the event to extend his congratulations.
Director General Chen noted that the IDC Future Enterprise Awards, now in its eighth year, attract over 6,000 technological submissions annually from across the Asia-Pacific region. Following the selection of Country Winners by each participating nation, these winning entries compete in a second round in Singapore to determine the Asia-Pacific Regional Award recipients. Both stages of the competition are judged by international panels, making the awards highly competitive. Taoyuan's AI Environmental Pollution Recognition System emerged as the only environmental technology application recognized at the Asia-Pacific level this year, showcasing the city’s excellence in environmental governance. Director General Chen credited Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng's strong commitment to technological enforcement and the dedicated efforts of the TYDEP team for the achievement.

The TYDEP highlighted that under the Smart Taoyuan policy initiative, the city has achieved remarkable success, securing four prestigious international awards and five trophies this year. These accolades include the 2024 Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Government as the Asia-Pacific Winner, the 2024 WITSA ICT Excellence Award for Sustainable Growth/Circular Economy Award, the 2024 ASOCIO DX Award for Health Technology, and the IDC Future Enterprise Awards - Special Award for Smart Cities: Best in Digital Policies, earning both the Country Winner and Asia-Pacific Winner titles.
