In an effort to achieve zero emissions, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Taoyuan today (16th) announced the 2024 subsidy for e-motorcycles. This year’s subsidy has been expanded to include the “Young Adults’ e-Journey” and the “Women e-Go-Go” schemes to benefit young people, new immigrants and women. The maximum subsidy is NT$40,000, the highest in the country.
According to Chen Shih-Wei, Secretary of DEP Taoyuan, there are more than 94,000 electric motorcycles in the city, a market share of 6.89%. Applicants trading their two-stroke motorcycles for electric motorcycles are eligible for a maximum subsidy of NT$20,000. In addition, anyone trading old motorcycles (Phase 1 to Phase 5) manufactured before December 31, 2016 (inclusive) for electric motorcycles are eligible for a maximum subsidy of NT$17,000. Applicants purchasing new electric motorcycles are eligible for a maximum subsidy of NT$4,000, subject to 8,500 applications.
Secretary Chen pointed out that aside from the additional subsidies for low-income households and residents of Fuxing District, the “Young Adults’ e-Journey” schemes was launched this year for adults between the ages of 18 and 45 as they serve as the backbone of Taiwan’s society. Those meeting the above criteria are eligible for an additional subsidy of NT$4,000, subject to 2,000 applicants. To provide better care for women with children, DEP Taoyuan launched the “Women e-Go-Go” scheme this year, extending the original age qualification from 6 to 12. Women with children under 12 years of age are eligible for an additional subsidy of NT$6,000, subject to 2,000 applicants. The maximum subsidy this year is NT$40,000, the highest in the country.
The subsidy schemes this year run from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The application period runs until January 10, 2025.
