The Department of Environmental Protection of Taoyuan City organized the "Recycling Waste Handling Industry Regulations Advocacy Seminar and Fire Safety Drill" at the Jiudou Civic Center in Xinwu, Taoyuan, on the 10th. The aim of this event is to enhance the operational quality and fire safety management of the city's recycling waste handling industry, strengthen recycling operators' awareness of environmental regulations, and improve industry personnel's fire safety awareness. For this event, exceptional companies from the 2022 assessment were invited to share their experiences. Fire department experts also conducted fire safety lectures, receiving high praise and recognition from participating industry professionals.
The Department of Environmental Protection emphasized that to strengthen the execution of waste recycling, handling, storage, and facility management by the city's recycling waste handlers, and to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, the regulations briefing covered not only waste disposal laws and regulations but also addressed common problems encountered over the years within these facilities, providing solutions for improvement. This helps prevent potential hazards resulting from improper storage practices. One of the distinguished companies (recognized with the "Good Neighbor Recycling" emblem), Tung Lin Industrial Co., Ltd., shared their experiences, particularly focusing on managing the recycling environment within their plant, clear labeling in both Chinese and English in storage areas, and well-designed separation facilities, effectively reducing risks and disasters. Such practices are offered as lessons for others in the industry to enhance the city's image in resource recycling and reuse.
Furthermore, in response to the severe impact of climate change leading to extremely high temperatures, there has been an increase in fire incidents within recycling industries across various cities and counties this year. Therefore, in addition to the fire safety course, practical fire drills were conducted to raise recycling operators' awareness of autonomous fire safety management, familiarize them with fire alarm equipment operations, and ensure that the risk of fire incidents within the industry is minimized, safeguarding both the premises and personnel.
The Taoyuan Department of Environmental Protection emphasized that similar advocacy seminars will be continued in the future to provide recycling businesses with more information and guidance, promote the implementation of environmental regulations, and jointly strive to promote a green circular economy and safety management, ensuring the preservation of Taoyuan's beautiful environment.
