Deputy Mayor Chun-Pin Su of Taoyuan City attended the “Taoyuan Resource Circulation Expo” held at the Sustainable Resource Center today (1), affirming the city’s commitment to the 2023 United Nations World Environment Day theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” to confront the plastics pollution. Thus, the exhibition showcased a variety of products crafted from recycled household plastics and polystyrene, such as the award-winning Tabouret cannelé, recognized by the esteemed iF Design Awards. Additionally, with the participation of 130 service-sharing and resource recycling companies, the event presented technological innovations, design advancements, and achievements in sustainable development within the circulation industry. A series of dedicated lectures and business networking activities were also held to foster fruitful connections and opportunities. The event offered a valuable opportunity for forward-thinking businesses and academic institutions committed to promoting sustainable development and circular practices. It facilitated the exchange of experiences, exploration of the latest trends and technologies, and welcomed collaboration-seeking corporate partners, environmental advocates, and design academia to join together in this grand endeavor.
The Environmental Protection Bureau expressed that the Sustainable Resource Center, located at the Environmental Technology Park in Taoyuan City’s Guanyin District, serves as a permanent exhibition hall with the noble objective of cultivating a “circular supply chain industry.” It showcases tangible products from waste management and recycling enterprises, facilitates the matchmaking and marketing of resource-based products, and effectively connects various sectors within the circular industry chain, receiving profound recognition. The expo adhered to a sustainable circular business model, presenting an on-site display of cabinet and tableware available for lease instead of outright purchase. The utilization of recycled plastic materials, including “SenSen Wood” by Inm Bem industrial Co., Ltd. and “P-tex Cloth” by Sheng Yang International Co., Ltd., was employed for the decoration of the venue. The curatorial approach, based on recycled resources, fully embodies Taoyuan City’s steadfast commitment to promoting a circular economy. The event attracted esteemed attendees, including representatives from the European Union, international speakers (from Singapore, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Germany), as well as Japanese scholars, industry delegates, and brand representatives. Through business matchmaking activities, the event showcased an innovative collaboration between Chungtai Resource Technology Corp., which produces glass fiber resin powder, and National Taipei University of Technology, which specializes in mortar layer technology. The groundbreaking initiative, conceived by the “Studio ++," pioneers a new path for the practical implementation of the circular economy and sustainable development.
