In order to encourage institutions and schools in Taoyuan City to foster the learning of environmental knowledge from environmental education facilities, the Department of Environment Protection of the Taoyuan City Government (TYDEP) announced on March 15 the “2023 Taoyuan City Environmental Education Fund Grant Program (Subsidy Method for Institutions and Schools),” hoping to promote learning and experiential courses through the rich environmental education resources within the city to promote the concept of sustainable development. Each field site can be subsidized up to NT$150,000 and the application period ends on April 21, 2023. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Taoyuan City has 31 environmental education field sites, the most in the country, with a wide variety of venues and themes including water resources, pond ecology, cultural tours, forest exploration, coastal ecology, etc. Combined with sustainable development indicators, the sites offer exciting and varied courses and activities.
The TYDEP pointed out that the “Climate Change Response Act” was amended and promulgated by the EPA in February this year, with “Taiwan’s Pathway to Net-Zero Emissions in 2050” explicitly included into law. Therefore, this year’s subsidies for institutions, schools and environmental education venues are especially prioritized for the “environmental/energy-saving facilities” type of field sites, with subsidies of up to NT$150,000 granted. It is therefore hoped that city institutions, agencies and schools can enter field sites, engage in in-depth learning and take part in Taoyuan's diversified environmental education resources, including green living experience and gradually implement the goal of net-zero lifestyles, so that we can do our best to protect the earth.
