After the conclusion of the 9-in-1 Local Elections on November 26, and with the election fervor subsiding, in order to restore the city's environment as soon as possible, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Taoyuan City Government (TYDEP), following past practice, mobilized about 450 people early in the morning of the 27th. It dispatched about 155 vehicles to inspect key artery roads throughout the city, removed campaign banners and advertising banners left by the campaign teams in the streets and alleys, totaling about 40,000 pieces, and restored the neat and orderly streetscape of Taoyuan City in the shortest possible time.
TYDEP Director General Lu Li-Teh noted that in order to maintain a tidy cityscape and ensure traffic safety after the election, the candidates' election banner advertisements should be removed by campaign teams according to the regulations. If it is not removed by the deadline, it will be considered as waste and will be removed and disposed of by the TYDEP. As of 2:00 p.m. on the 27th, the removal of election banners and advertisements from all key roads in the city had been completed, in time to restore the appearance of the city before the public goes to work on Monday. The dismantled and discarded campaign materials, such as plastic PP boards, can be recycled and reused, and will all be recycled and handed over to the back-end processing plant to be turned into recycled plastic materials, thus realizing resource reuse and source reduction.
The TYDEP stated that according to Article 3 of the "Rules Governing the Use of Election Advertisements for the Election of President, Vice President and Public Officials in Taoyuan City," election campaign teams should remove the campaign advertisements on the day of voting, and if they are not removed within the deadline, the TYDEP will remove and dispose of all related campaign materials. The Taoyuan City Environmental Maintenance and Inspection Division 12 District Squadron used Sunday to send dispatch manpower and equipment to quickly remove campaign advertisements. If citizens find any campaign advertisements that have not been removed, they can call the 1999 Citizen's Hotline to notify the TYDEP squadrons in each district. Officers will be dispatched to remove them as soon as possible; the TYDEP also calls on campaign teams of candidates or landowners to remove campaign advertisements set up in private facilities, working together to speed up the restoration of Taoyuan's cityscape.
